Samuel Fawkner-Egli

Samuel Fawkner-Egli is a young Singer Songwriter born and raised in Taranaki with a strong local connection. He's been writing and performing over the past 10 years, finding inspiration from the great Kiwi Artists who've gone before him.
Music has always guided Sam throughout his life as he finds great solace in melody and storytelling. Drawing from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Don McGlashan and the Finn Brothers he weaves his own experiences with a hopeful spirit to create an overarching musical experience that wraps both listener and performer in a timeless spell.
Early influences and mentors include Eketaahuna legend Mike Harding who taught Sam guitar, The Muggeridges and iconic band 'Gumboot Tango'. With both Grandad and Dad deeply embedded in the Irish Trad scene, Sam grew up surrounded in live, acoustic music.
Currently an established musician himself with 10 years performing experience, Sam is gearing up to release his second album 'Under the Rimu Waterfall': written, recorded and produced by himself. Sam aspires to be a full time touring, recording musician and is looking for as many opportunities to fulfil his dream.
"As a young New Zealand Singer Songwriter I possess a strong connection to Kiwi music and allow it to influence my sound considerably. This musical influence as well as a keen admiration for the New Zealand landscape and culture flow out through my songs which I perform using only my voice and guitar.
I love telling stories and connecting to the human experience through my songs and am yearning for opportunities to perform to an open attentive audience. I look forward to the beautiful opportunity to be a guest artist, offering a very passionate and motivated performer. Also looking forward to co-facilitating the Youth Programme."
