Canterbury Folk Festival

A Family Festival of Music

Jenny Mitchell

Southern songwriter Jenny Mitchell is one of New Zealand’s brightest musical talents. Hailing from Gore, she is a songwriter that blends country, folk, and Americana into her own captivating style.

“She’s an artist who knows exactly who she is and feels no need to give way.” – The Southland Times

In 2016 Jenny was the Overall Intermediate NZ Gold Guitar winner and winner of the MLT Songwriting Awards, goals she has been working towards for a long time. But years before this (at only 14) she was placed 3rd on New Zealand’s Got Talent. She then went on to release her debut album, ‘The Old Oak’, which debuted at number 1 on the NZ Country iTunes Charts and number 3 on the Official NZ Music Charts.

Her unique style has delighted audiences of all shapes and sizes, from the thousands at the Tamworth Country Music Festival Opening Concert to intimate house concerts in her home region, Southland.

“She doesn’t deserve to be discovered more than forty years from now. She deserves to be listened to now.” – John Apice, No Depression Reviews (USA)
